    untitled poem (probably crappy)

sooo, i haven't written a poem (one that i've actually kept from throwing away) in like three years. but a lot of crap has been going on lately...so here it is a typical angsty poem. don't judge too harshly.

so i'm sitting here in my room wondering just what i did to you

cause you don't look at me the way that you used to

you said that it would be ok, that we'd still be the same
but i see you cringe a little every time i say your name

a touch is just a touch, y'know, at least that's what i thought
but you're acting as if i'm doing something i ought not

i'm trying to understand, just what i did that's wrong
i gave you time, i gave you space, but God it's been so long

so i'm sitting here all alone, wondering what i did to you
i told you that i fell for you, alright that much is true

but it's over now, and i've moved on
so why can't you, or at least play along?

    don't speak, don't touch, don't look, don't REACH
you've put up a wall that i don't dare to breach

so now i'm sitting here in my room wondering just what i did to you
cause quite frankly Joe we're not the same. i know i'm not, are you?

    sooooo...ummmm....yeah.....

This is just to let anyone who might still check this that i don't really come to this site anymore. Since going away to college I've proceeded to get both a myspace (which to be honest i don't use that often) and a facebook. it's not that i don't like xanga, it's just that people stopped responding to me on it. myspace was more responsive. and now with facebook, it's more of a college thing. if anyone has a myspace and would like to add me mine is www.myspace.com/apatheticteenagetype and i always love new friends. if you have a facebook i attend Rochester College and would love it if you would add me.

i mostly started this xanga to keep people updated on my goings on in Australia. sadly i am no longer in Australia, so the xanga has served its purpose. that's all. love.

  • yeah, so it's been awhile, i know. a lot has happened since Hayride. for one we had our winter concert. boy was that...phenomenal. it literally took my breath away. and now we're done with our winter set. it's time to be looking towards Pop Concert. not that that's not exciting, but it all went by so fast, you know? this year is just zipping by. i can't seem to make it slow down. in just over a week it won't be 2005 anymore, and i'll be even closer to graduation. i don't know if i can handle that. there are so many things drifting around in my head right now that i couldn't possibly right down, maybe i'll come back in a bit, but i thought that i should at least post something, considering the last time i posted was in october. the "yeah hayride whoo-hoo" headline was starting to look a little sad. well, i've got places to be (like bed) so that's all for now. until another time.

  • YEAH HAYRIDE WHOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited! This is my third, and final (tear) A Cappella Choir Hayride. It's our beginning of the year bonding thing and it's so awesome. We drive for like an hour out to a farm and go on a hayride. Then we have a bonfire and eat dinner--hotdogs over the flames, and later s'mores. After dinner the officers (i'm one) go up to the barn and prepare for the next phase of fun. We put on a skit for the rest of the choir that we've written ourselves and is usually hilarious, as well as downright dumb. After that comes the rookie initiation. What we do is *************** sorry, can't talk about that, rookies might be reading. After the rookie initiation comes game time. That's a lot of fun. Our traditional game is the haystack game (or in the absence of haystacks, the chair game). We all pair up and sit around in a circle, one person on the haystack and one person standing behind. one person has an empty seat and that person calls out the name of someone sitting. that person has to get away from their seat without being grabbed by the person behind them. after that comes the animal game, which is too difficult to explain in words. and after that we play some other games. then we go outside for a massive game of tug-of-war. usually its sopranos vs. altos, bass vs. tenors, and boys vs. girls. then we wrap the night up by singing Hallelujah Chorus and The Lord Bless You and Keep You in a circle under the stars. then we drive home and get back at like one in the morning and have to be at school the next day. it's amazing. i'm so unbelievably excited, but also sad. because not only is this my last Hayride, but it's the last Hayride. Kimball's choir doesn't do a Hayride, and it's a hard thing to force traditions on people who don't want them. but i prefer to think of the lighter things. like what we're going to do to the rookies. and on that note i say farewell.

And in the immortal words of The Max Schurig: YEAH HAYRIDE WHOO-HOO!!!
